Fake news. The City disbanded the police force for fiscal reasons in that it could no longer afford the police union contract. In order to get rid of the union contract, the City had to get rid of the union, and the only way to get rid of the union was to get rid of the police department. The Camden County Police Department, which was created to take over the City of Camden Police Department, was non-union at the time. And if I recall correctly, nearly all of the former City of Camden LEO accepted positions with the newly formed Camden County Police Department.
“Dissolved the police department” is disengenuous as can be, but it may be effective in NJ. They will claim they are anti-police and thrifty at the same time.
