A California man who is suspected to have shot a San Luis Obispo County deputy during an "ambush attack" on the local police department on Wednesday was shot and killed after a standoff with officers late Thursday afternoon.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office said that officers confronted Mason Lira, 26, in Paso Robles after receiving reports of a shot officer just after 2 p.m.
"Law enforcement officers were stationed in this area as part of a containment team assigned to keep the suspect, Mason Lira, from evading officers who were beginning a search of the riverbed," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
"Officers arrived at the scene and conducted a search for the suspect, when the suspect opened fire on the officers, wounding two of them," it added.
According to the report, officers found Mira hiding in the riverbed. Mira then tried to flee on foot, but was fatally shot by pursuing officers. The sheriff's office said that he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The news of Mira's death comes after he allegedly shot an office deputy on Wednesday when he opened fire on the Paso Robles Police Department building at about 3:45 a.m Wednesday morning.

I doubt there was much of a chance he was gonna come out alive with a non lethal injury.

“Suspect in ‘ambush attack’ of California deputy pronounced dead at scene, sheriff says”
I’m reminded of the comment made by the British major in the movie Quigley Down Under when he was asked about trying a dead man and his retort was, “The trial will not be lengthy.”

Bring on the FRtards screaming they should have taken him without deadly force...
These anarchists have to be operatives of some sinister faction. Commies,Sorosis, whoever. They need to be sniped.

He has been homeless since 17. A little after he began having mental issues. He thinks people are after him. He has been refusing to take his medications, though. His father said “I’ve been sleeping with a loaded gun near my bed. I’m afraid of him too.”
It’s a known fact that adult onset schizophrenia tends to show up in males from 16 to 26 years old.
Something was off, though, if he had access to guns and ammo with his background of hospitalizations.
Maybe he used fake id.
They are, of course.

Couldn’t they have shot him in the hand?

Or a British WWII historian declaring, “Hitler’s continuous bombing of London was extremely unpopular”.
Happy ending?
Yes, but I wish that the police officers weren’t wounded!
Nice formulation! That's what a master of ceremonies would say.
Its like we are in a war and the police forces have to be like the military fighting against the enemy
Yes.
