There wasn’t a distinction between the two that was a lie, and most AMericans who have other ways to access news like online videos and even watching FNC saw what was really happening. If anything hurt him it was the fact he didn’t take charge and stop the riots. I understand why he couldn’t but most Americans are not for looting and violence. Most polls showed Americans were even for military action in the places that were being torn apart.
Unfortunate there are not enough voters who see things they way we do. We have to win independents. We need to work hard and not think he can pull it out without our help.
Look what we do know is that the betting odds dramatically changed for the worse-not a slow steady decline but a drop, nothing like this in the past , Trump was ahead through impeachment, Covid, shutdown. job loss, , betting odds were routinely cited by Trump campaign as the go to numbers. and to your point the riots did not stop, Trump did NOT stop the riots-probably couldn’t-the point being don’t talk tough if you can’t do anything. He got the worst of both-riots and tough talk that got typecast by media that hates him as someone (unfairly) as against blacks and aligned with Derek Chauvin at least with independents and women voters, I know he is not but that’s the word from White House own internal polls. The White House has recognized this and that is why Trump’s speech at West Point was conciliatory-spoke about the evils of slavery etc-good stuff-he has time to recover-
The White House is now talking about another 2 trillion relief deal, before this decline it was said any more was unnecessary and increasing the national debt , my guess is they will hit in Oct before the election, the old Howard Baker play, idk if its good or bad -at this point whatever it takes to get him reelected
