210 miles completed, 306 miles under construction, 222 miles under pre-construction.

Build it up to the sky.
does under construction include “preconstruction?” We can add the three for the total?
I’d love to see all this mapped out along with a timeline for completion. I know the caravan isn’t dominating the news cycle right now and typically immigration (including the illegal variety) drops during poor economic conditions, but this problem isn’t just going to disappear forever on its own. As soon as we get our economy roaring again, they’ll come in hordes from wherever south of us.
I welcome legal immigrants who can be self-sufficient, have job skills, education, are background checked, and don’t pose a threat to anyone. Illegals have zero screening and pour in expecting welfare and free medical care. No thanks!
Build it around NY
Imagine a Mexico where mexicans stayed in their own country, and fought to make it a better place.
Could you imagine how great it would be to deal with a non-corrupt Mexico and mexican citize ty that dealt with their own corruption and criminals?
Can you imagine how happy the law abiding mexicans would be?
Now that would be something to be proud of.
Immigration moratorium now. 40 plus million unemployed. Need to get as many working to stifle underclass unrest. Freeze and fix the visa system. Legal immigration dwarfs illegal in numbers.
Robotics, automation, AI. That is now and increasing in the immediate future .
Current:
210 miles completed
306 miles under construction
222 miles under pre-construction
On May 25 (22 days ago):
194 miles completed
251 miles under construction
286 miles under pre-construction
“does under construction include preconstruction? We can add the three for the total?”
They are separate categories.
The total (738 miles) reflects the total funded Program, as of today.
There is an additional $3.6 billion in this year’s (FY 20) Military Construction funds, that were announced for diversion to Border Wall construction, but those funds have not yet been transferred between accounts. That money is not yet reflected in the mileage totals.
I think if that money comes, the total would be more like 885 miles.
Additionally, 221 miles of pre-existing barrier has been assessed as effective. With that included, it would total about 1,100 miles of effective barrier - which is reportedly what the Comprehensive Plan for Full Operational Control of the Southern Border estimated was needed.
I doubt that is just a coincidence. It seems to me that the money has been identified to pay for all the (really) required barrier, during President Trump’s first term.
Even if it takes contractors a year or more beyond that to complete construction, and deliver their contract obligations, the contracts should be awarded, and the funds obligated, before inauguration day, 2021.
The total has inched up a few miles, since the last report.
I think this reflects the minor variations between estimated costs in the budget, and actual costs, as competitive contract bidding comes in with actual binding prices.
Are there any lawsuits still outstanding that could slow the wall anywnere, outside of Texas.
immigration moratorium
tax all remittances
increase ICE and CBP headcount 10x
accelerate deportations
All the Latin American countries—and some African and Asian countries too—would become more dynamic and thriving societies if their nationals in the US were returned home.
bump
Is there still a lawsuit on the 2020 military construction funds winding through the courts?
“Id love to see all this mapped out along with a timeline for completion.”
The graphics would be incredible.
“Are there any lawsuits still outstanding that could slow the wall anywhere, outside of Texas.”
There are lawsuits, but I think that they are unlikely to be significant this year. Many are just additional instances, of arguments on which courts have repeatedly ruled in favor of the Administration (that is, waiving environmental and other laws to speed construction).
As you allude, Texas is unique with all the eminent domain filings, but that is the Government suing, instead of getting sued. The Government’s authority there is really overwhelming.
“Is there still a lawsuit on the 2020 military construction funds winding through the courts?”
The prior year’s (2019) MILCON funds are still winding through the courts. The Supreme Court last July just ruled that the Government could continue construction, while the lawsuit proceeds. It has not yet exhausted its process.
The main cause of action for the 2020 MILCON funds has not yet occurred (either awarding contracts with that money, or starting actual work). That money (to my knowledge) has not yet even been transferred for Border Wall use. So the Left will likely file more meritless, redundant lawsuits when such thresholds are met, but the final disposition of the FY 2019 MILCON lawsuits will likely be the big wildcard, in terms of lawsuits impacting the Program. It would likely decide the FY2020 MILCON issue as well (although no doubt they will try some even more spurious basis to argue against it anyway).
I think the law is clearly on the side of the Administration, in diverting those funds to Wall.
That is a pretty good start. Now add mines and armed drones.
Then hopefully the last covid stimulus will provide the money so 2020 mil on won’t need to be touched. (Dreaming)
Is it possible that it can be continued from San Diego up the mountains to the Canadian border, i.e., wall out the coast but let the Central Valley, Oregon east of Mt. Hood and the plains of Washington to join with the remaining states? We’ll deal with Illinois, WI, Minn and the NE separately.
