Bolton asks court to dismiss DOJ suit, citing failure to state a claim

Former White House National Security Adviser John Bolton asked a federal court to dismiss the Justice Department’s (DOJ) effort to block the publication of his memoir Thursday evening.

In the Thursday night motion, lawyers for the former Trump official asked the court to dismiss the case for failure to state a claim, calling the DOJ effort a "regrettable pretext designed to cover up what is in fact a determined political effort to suppress Ambassador Bolton’s speech."

The Trump administration filed an emergency application Wednesday asking for a restraining order to block publication of the book, "The Room Where it Happened", currently set to be released on June 23.

The White House has insisted Bolton’s White House memoir contains classified information.

“To be clear: Defendant’s manuscript still contains classified information, as confirmed by some of the Government’s most senior national-security and intelligence officials,” the DOJ said in its memorandum supporting their argument.

Bolton has clearly put himself and his ego before the preservation of the nation. Bad decision.

I have heard that the DOJ can prevent Bolton from profiting from the book. I hope that happens.

It takes a while to catch on that manipulative and abusive people are in fact, manipulative and abusive. Trump has excelled at getting people on all sides to show their true colors.

The John Bolton book is already dead-in-the-water. Yes....it will kick off sales to buffoons at a brisk pace for about a week or two and then be shifted to the “Bargain Bin” where it will dead forever!!! Bolton has destroyed what little respect he ever had, even if he ever had any respect at all!!!

Go....Trump!!!

Let's do a walk down memory lane. If I am right, isn't this ahole one of the Bush cronies who got us stuck in Iraq and got a lot of our military killed after the dumb SOB fired every soldier in the Iraqi army causing many of them to work as terrorists because they had families to feed?

Yea, I remember him and so should every military family who lost someone!

I recall Bush 43 had nominated him for some office (National Security Advisor?). At the last minute, George Voinovich (R-OH) voted against him, so the nomination didn’t make it out of committee. Maybe eventually he got it through...or he got reassigned to a post that didn’t require Senate confirmation.

Friends today, enemies tomorrow....and vice versa.

Or, President Trump understood Bolton was known to be manipulative and abusive.

President Trump could use someone like Bolton in a good cop/bad cop routine.
President Trump could have Bolton in a negotiating room representing the dark alternative. All the while, President Trump would listen to Bolton then immediately disregard everything said.

MAYBE, Bolton figured out he was merely a piece in a negotiation framework and is now pissed off?????????????

Remember all the diplomats and heads of agencies who resigned or retired because of Trump? They did so because THEY believed THEY knew best and were angry Trump wasn't do what THEY believed Trump should do.

This is what is ticking off people in the Bureaucratic State. They believe they should be setting policy instead of implementing the policy objectives of the President.

They're angry because Trump isn't taking their advice.

-Why was this guy so popular on this site?-

I think it was his bushy mustache. People thought you could trust someone with a bushy mustache, but you learn something every day, even if you don’t want to.

very true.

I would add President Trump produces results for the people.

The swamp never considered that, their life is to blindly follow the process
