GONZALES, Texas - It was a busy night in the town of Gonzales, which is east of San Antonio. A Juneteenth celebration has attracted an armed group that said they are only there to make sure things stay peaceful. "We all come from different creeds, different religions, different political view but today we are human."

"Celebrate all you want, protest all you want that's the American way,” said Joe White who helped organize this year’s Gonzales Juneteenth celebration. Friday night, two groups were in the city and while they may have had different messages they had the same goal. "It's all about community. Look around right now there's no negativity. There's not one confrontation that we had. All these different groups we ended up all walking together. Here's the sheriff.”

A Juneteenth march that started in Confederate Square ended in a celebration in an open field. Meanwhile, just a few blocks away, “This is Texas Freedom Force” is holding a “Come and Take It” event. "We'll be in formation around this monument and our only goal is to stand here quietly and to protect the monument,” said President of This is Texas Freedom Force Brandon Burkhart said. There had been concerns there could be trouble but Burkhart said his group and “Open Carry Texas” talked with the Juneteenth organizers and agreed they all just want to get along.

"We are not out here to oppose anybody, any movement, any celebration anything folks want to do we're not here to oppose any of that except the sanitization of history." The Gonzales Police Department and Sheriff’s Office were both out at the square into Friday evening along with members of the Army National Guard to make sure things stayed peaceful.

Texas leadership kept everything peaceful in Gonzales today. An example to the Democrat leaders in other states who let rioting and looting take place through ineffective leadership. Really sad because I couldn't be there today. Had to work...

Battle of Gonzales (wikipedia FWIW)

“The Battle of Gonzales was the first military engagement of the Texas Revolution. It was fought near Gonzales, Texas, on October 2, 1835, between rebellious Texian settlers and a detachment of Mexican army soldiers.

In 1831, Mexican authorities lent the settlers of Gonzales a small cannon to help protect them from frequent Comanche raids. Over the next four years, the political situation in Mexico deteriorated, and in 1835 several states revolted. As the unrest spread, Colonel Domingo de Ugartechea, the commander of all Mexican troops in Texas, felt it unwise to leave the residents of Gonzales with a weapon and requested the return of the cannon.”

I had never heard of “Juneteenth” until two days ago. I doubt anyone will remember it in two years. What a joke. Just call it “Juneteemph an sheeeeit” and make it real. What a joke.

It’s a pretty sad state of affairs when that fact that something was peaceful makes the news.

To those here who were NOT BLESSED to be TEXICAN, The Battle Of Gonzalez was UNIQUE for one thing: NOBODY got wounded or killed in the skirmish & only ONE person was injured = A Texican militiaman, who was injured by his own horse.= He got a broken nose.

Just the FACTS. - It wasn’t much of a battle but otoh, the Texas Revolution was a war that had only 2 major battles & one HORRID WAR CRIME, the MASSACRE of POWs at Goliad.

The Battle of San Jacinto, where GEN Sam Houston defeated The Dictator, GEN Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana, lasted only 18 MINUTES.

I had to DIG to find an article about what happened at Gonzales on 6-19-20. The mainstream media did NOT cover it. Rush Limbaugh should point out this event!

I understand it originated in Galveston. I’d never heard of it until three days ago.

"I had never heard of “Juneteenth” until two days ago. I doubt anyone will remember it in two years. What a joke. Just call it “Juneteemph an sheeeeit” and make it real. What a joke."

35 years ago while working for a large electronics manufacturing company in Texas, our personnel manager instructed us to mark people who didn't come to work that day as 'not present' but, not absent. He also instructed us not to use that 'not present' incident in our calculations for any disciplinary action related to attendance. It was not an official holiday of any sort but they did not want to irritate racial conditions over it.
In that same company I had an employee who wanted to change his race from Mexican to Hispanic...that same personnel manager said, "just write down(on his employee data sheet) whatever he says he is." I did.

The mainstream media in this area did not cover this at all. Didn’t fit their agenda. The Democrats AND the media ARE the enemy and we ARE at war. It’s just some people can not see what is happening.
