Oh, please...Flimsey Tinkerbelle is god to no one! He gets renominated because of our stupid open primary system that lets Democrats vote for the Republican of their choice with no provision for runoffs.
Flimsey was heir apparent to the late Strom Thurmond’s Senate seat because the latter had been impressed with his performance in the House. I voted for him in 2002 and have voted against him ever since. He’s been in office almost eighteen years now and voters are reluctant to throw away all that seniority.
Tinkerbelle is a loose cannon in the Senate but we’re stuck with him. He does not in any way speak for the Republican majority in South Carolina.
Do you mean the original statement by “sport” that Flimsey “is a god in South Carolina”? Did you notice the quotation marks in the lead paragraph? I was quoting “sport”’s original post and I strongly disagreed.

But whenever Flimsey Grahamnesty’s name comes up, a lot of people here express disappointment that Republicans in a red state like South Carolina keep reelecting a chameleon like Lindsey who has been a letdown to conservatives except when he’s campaigning for reelection.
The system here is stacked against anti-incumbency, as noted.
And we have had godlike Senators in the past. J. Strom Thurmond, and long before him, L. Mendel Rivers, who steered so many military assets & bases into the state that it was said South Carolina was sufficiently well armed to attempt secession again.
Meanwhile, we’re stuck with Linda. And my house was teleported into the district of the biggest racist in South Carolina, Cong. James E. Clyburn.
