The U.S. Travel Association is encouraging the Trump administration to turbocharge the reopening of the travel economy by creating a temporary travel tax credit.
To reduce the time it takes to get to full recovery, Congress should create a new tax credit to encourage domestic business and leisure travelers to travel within a specified time frame, similar to what was done through the homebuyer tax credit in the wake of the housing crisis, U.S. Travel said in a legislative priorities document.
President Trump mentioned the idea in May during a White House roundtable with restaurant industry executives, calling the creation of an Explore America tax credit a big deal.
The association pointed to the administrations publicly expressed interest in the idea of the travel tax credit, which as proposed would be worth 50% of qualified travel expenses incurred in the U.S. between its launch date and December 31, 2021, up to a maximum of $4,000 per household.

Waiting now to see what happens but if it does, it will make cruising (and the Trump 2020 Victory Cruise) a THRU-THE-ROOF deal.
BRING IT ON!!!! I can be packed in 1 HOUR!
Must be great to have a business that the govt will put out hundreds of billions for if something goes wrong.
It has to be spent in the US but I assume if it passes these cruises might be exceptions.
I’m hoping it doesn’t pass.
Isn’t 25 or 26 trillion debt enough for you people?
And those who can afford to put the money up front weren’t hurting that much to begin with.
“Isnt 25 or 26 trillion debt enough for you people?”

On the other hand, you get on one of those festering floating petrie dishes of disease, you could be dead (or wish you were) before the debt bill comes due. Can’t get blood from a dead turnip.
Yeah, I’m going stir crazy already. BTW, if it does pass, I would like to take a SECOND cruise next June to Alaska on Celebrity.
If it looks like this is going to actually happen, buy 30 shares of Royal Carribean, sell when this happens, and you will have paid for you who trip.
Go in May BEFORE all the snow melts!! Or early June,,, Been there 3 times in Mid May, and GORGEOUS weather every time! Go up to Anchorage , Seward..and then stay on and do the return!
Cruise ships employ no Americans.
The biggest problem we are facing is the redistribution of “globalization”.
All money spent on cruises should be taxable income, and in addition, there should be sales taxes piled on.
??
For US companies and US flagged ships ONLY!!!
The reason they do NOT have Americans working ON the ships, as a rule, is because AMERICANS DON"T WANT TO WORK THAT HARD!!!
Does this mean my gas/Diesel purchases made out of state will be rebated by 50%?
So June 18 would be too late? I was thinking of that date because it would be daylight all night in Alaska.
ALL MONEY IS TAXED!!! omg.
Correct. Port Everglades is a YUUUUUGE operation. Also the cruise port in Miami. So yeah, it does affect Americans.
I pass
That would be fine....especially if you go farther north than Juneau or Skagway.
Uh, no. Housing is essential. Cruises, not so much. But if the Feds create a travel tax credit, why not a bowling alley tax credit? And why not a miniature golf tax credit? I like miniature golf. I want a tax credit too.
With working class America paying for it all.. whether we board a crowded floating petri dish or just pay everybody else’s way.
The cruise I want starts at Seward. So would we see snow there in middle of June? Also we want to see glaciers. My wife has never seen snow.
