There’s a great book on the Seven Years war - “A Few Acres of Snow”, by Robert Leckie (WWII Marine, author of Helmet for my Pillow, and other historical works) - should be required history reading in schools.
The war actually lasted nine years (1754-1763), but it didn’t spread to Europe until 1756.
