No matter how much I know these polls are fake, they still make me nervous. Kind of like my fear of heights. I know I am not going to fall but my legs and stomach still react in fear.

In the late 60s, I had a job working at a lumber mill in a semi rural area. It was within walking distance of my house, so frequently I’d walk home for lunch then walk back to work.
The walk involved walking down the rail road tracks and to break the monotony, I’d walk the rail to see if I could maintain my balance.
I was walking along, concentrating on that rail when suddenly, I ran into something solid.
It was a cow that had wandered onto the track without me noticing. Of course my brain didn’t calmly tell me, “hey, you have run into a cow”, it screamed at me, “TRAIN”!!!
Closest I’ve ever come to having a heart attack.
