Remember when white Texas went blue for Carter?
Pretty much the whole South went for Carter in 76. They were fooled by his “Good Old Boy” schtick.
I married into a family with hispanic ancestry. Over 90% are solid Trump supporters. Why? Jobs! They also recognize that uncontrolled immigration hurts everyone. They vote in New Mexico, Texas and California.
Texas had more elderly Democrats in those days. They have all died out. It is a red state, but the future does depend on what becomes of Hispanics. Many of them are very conservative, pro life, Catholic, and hard-working. Their history Generally speaking is not one of welfare and food stamps.
