You don't have to overload the ICUs to have a bad outcome, it is just a symptom of the real problem, which is the spread of the virus. NY didn't overload, but 1 out of 500 people in in the city died of Covid in a 2 month period. That's not a "Yay" we didn't overload the hospitals number.

Let me put you in the Wayback Machine and take you back to mid-March when this all started. We were told they needed 15 Days to Slow the Spread. Why? To BEND THE CURVE and to keep hospital capacities from being exceeded.

Yes and? It is worse when hospital capacities are exceeded, and better when they aren’t. But take a step back and grok that this isn’t a hospital problem, it is a disease, and hospitals are just a part of this. The goal is to avoid getting sick and going to the hospital in the first place, not to go to the bar, get sick, and have a ventilator warmed up and waiting for you.
