These businesses who want to pay their employees pennies while they enjoy million dollar salaries and bonuses will not convince me that Americans can't do the job, or that there's not enough of them. They just don't want to pay them what they're worth.
It’s the largest major in our Business school. Our CS and Computer Engineering majors have 100% job placement rates
correct
what they have done is put so many requirements onto a position that (that they know they really dont need all of them) - ie they pad the so-called requirements
so that startng out folks won’t apply or be able to be rejected
and the long timers who do have possibly most/all the requirements look at the salary being offered and see they are lowballing, for what they are demanding, so they dont apply
then they get the green light to bring in foreigners who also do not have all the requirements, because they were all never needed in the first place
Exactly. So many of these companies Will post a job for some computer science related field demanding a bachelors degree and probably some certifications and say will pay you $29,000 a year and then when the Americans actually take it will go to H1B visa to fill it and go see, no Americans want that job thats why we had to use an H1B immigrant.
Plenty of Americans can do the job and know how to do the job with these companies are intent on hiring as much cheap for labor as possible, now they will have to suck it up and start paying reasonable wages. No one in engineering or science field with a bachelors degree should have to try to compete with someone willing to make $30,000 a year for a $50,000 a year job.
“How many U.S. citizens graduate from college each year with a degree in software engineering or computer science? “
That’s a bullshit requirement and threshold.
ALL of the best tech workers I’ve worked with, and I have worked with the best in the world, had no degree whatsoever. And many didn’t have a HS diploma.
But in India you can read a tech manual and buy a degree for $5k.
