Well since 'they' promised that "gun violence" and domestic violence would be reduced by like 9,000,000% if we simply made sure law abiding citizens complied with these ne....... Oh.

After years of eddikashun, study, intellectual pursuits, and just plain drinking single malt, I’ve come up with the reason: Crooks do not get their guns after having a background check.

Where can I become “Professor”?

In 1976, the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police published a position paper on gun control in which it stated “the licencing, serialization, and registration of firearms will not act as a deterrence to violence and will not necessarily identify the person perpetrating the crime.”

The most common question I get from those who suddenly got woke after Baltimore’s 2015 riots or more recent riots: “Is it worth buying a gun legally, when it’s easier to get one under the table?”

Yes, it’s faster and often cheaper in Maryland to get an illegal gun, and I know where to do that. I still tell people who ask to follow the law. You do not want to be in a woke situation facing rioters/arsonists/looters/terrorists and worried about being prosecuted for the illegal gun too afterward. We have no moral obligation to follow unconstitutional gun laws, and all registrations/restrictions are unconstitutional, but we should still follow those laws out of self-preservation given big government’s harsh response to violations of those worthless laws.

Just the other day there was a story of a man who just three hours after his release from jail on another gun charge shot and killed a little girl eating ice cream.

Pretty sure that he did not get a background check for that gun.

Actually, yes, they do. I did a study years ago on this issue and pulled numbers from states and federal databases, compared their registration process, population size, gun ownership statistics, the works. For states with a background check and 3 day waiting period, there was a noticeable decline in homicides.

Conversely, states with NO waiting periods or background check requirements that had more homogeneous populations also had low rates of crime.

For dense, non-homogeneous urban populations, stop gaps allay potential crimes of passion.

Do not confuse recognition of these facts as support for these measures. The RKBA is inalienable; we should not have to go through background checks and waiting periods to exercise ours rights.
