Thanks for your responses. Americans, esp. Freepers have more knowledge about home defence than most Canadians. You're probably all right about the early show of force. That makes a lot of sense.

I was mainly concerned about the woman — she just doesn't look proficient with her weapon & considering some of the protesters are armed, I thought she was taking a big risk. It must have been very unnerving for both of them.
