The Vatican issued a statement Wednesday warning Israel that unilateral actions in the West Bank and Jordan Valley would seriously compromise peace efforts in the area.

The Vaticans concern relates to plans to extend Israeli law over parts of the West Bank and Jordan Valley in an effort to safeguard Jewish settlements in the West Bank and shore up Israels western border by annexing the Jordan Valley.

I don’t think the Catholic Church annexed any land in the Holy Land during the Crusades, unless perhaps some church buildings. The Crusader states were feudal entities set up by “Franks” from Western Europe...secular rulers.
Sure, the Franks set themselves up as rulers, backed by the Papal-controlled military orders, and at the direction of Papal encyclicals.
