A doctor at Stanford University said the spike in hospital patients in Texas has "nothing to do with COVID-19.”
Dr. Scott Atlas, a senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and the former chief of neuroradiology at the university’s medical center, joined Fox News’s The Story on Monday and said the public should not panic about the spike in hospitalizations.
When I looked at every single hospital area in Texas today, 15-20% of people in the hospital as inpatients are COVID-positive patients. That means 80-85% have nothing to do with COVID-19. And the same thing goes with some of these other states. There are people hospitalized, a large number, because they are tested as COVID-positive, somehow they are categorized as COVID hospitalizations. That’s a problem,”

“Covid” hospitalizations are up only because the CARES Act authorizes Medicare to pay a 20% bonus to hospitals for “covid19 treatment” so golly, every case that can be classified as “covid” will be classified that way. Same for deaths. It’s all corrupted data at this point because the medical community is being incentivised to corrupt the data. “What gets rewarded, gets done.” If you want more of something, just offer to pay for it.
Remember:
1- months ago Stanford released a study in which they said as many as 50 times the number of Americans had Covid-19 than the number being reported as positive.
2- Two weeks ago the CDC said 10x the number of Americans had Covid-19 than the number being reported.
Obviously there’s a lag in numbers when comparing the Stanford report in the middle of April and the CDC the end of June.

I’d also like, but will never see, honest and insightful reporting that does more than the “OMG we’re now at X number of cases!” Details are in the numbers, presence of anti-bodies, segmentation on those who’ve become ill, meaningful perspective - like fatalities vs. cases, etc.
Exactly!! The local news here in Houston yesterday reported that they can claim up to 40-50-% or even higher. It is all about $$$ and blaming Trump.

Hospitals would measure their capacity. The capacity is impacted by COVID. Heart attacks and strokes didn’t stop during the pandemic. (Yes, I know people didn’t go to the hospital when they should have.). They took up as many beds as usual.
The media translated this to “all capacity is Covid.” That was never the case. The important metric has been “is there a bed for me?”
Why was/is this so difficult to understand?
Will somebody wake up Governor Abbott and start screaming about the manipulating the data? We really have a fear virus that is crushing the economies of may states.n

You are right, a lot of folks only read the headlines. The headlines are only for attention, you have to read to get the facts.
Just blows my mind people only read the title of the article then yell it is a left wing conspiracy. The only conspiracy is the facts are in the content not the headline.
The hospitals can always cut back on elected surgeries if they need more beds. President Trump did build up the ventilator and medical supplies during the National Lock down, the US government can help out if needed.
I think the ICU capacity will come back down to the normal numbers as they work through the back logs and dumb youth get smarter on the virus.
I wonder how many ICU beds are being taken up by Black Lives Matter violent.
