The numbers in the article are way off. Herd immunity is in fact closer to 65%. And the disease does not have a 4% mortality rate. If you are under 60 and don’t have comorbidities, the number is much closer to the flu’s .01%, if not less.

I’m assuming they’re talking about case fatality rate, which is high but dropping quickly (it was ~5.7% a month ago). Infection fatality rate has been calculated to have a lower bound by CDC at 0.26% and a likely range of 0.5% and 1% by Johns Hopkins. I haven’t seen any updates on those numbers since May.
