I have worked for the GOV. for 34 years as an auditor. Best years of my life. Pics and statements from contractors were all I needed to dress them down and in some cases I left them with asses in my brief case. It was the best learning years of protecting the Taxpayers monies. When the contractors they all had 3 questions for me as I was coming to audit them. (1) who are you (2) where did you come from and 3) when are going to leave, Needles to say they changed their opinion real quick. lol
I worked sole source limited access program acquisition as a USAF officer for 8 years. Had a black world auditor show up every year or so. Never had a problem cause we spent every dollar as if it was our own. Great time of my life. Cheers!
I was a contractor for 40 years. The last audit I had was with Sales and Use tax.
He decided I owed a thousand bucks.
I researched the statutes that he referenced and other things.
I sent him a note saying he was using laws that had no bearing on what I do whatsoever. I expect he thought I would just pay the money and be glad it only cost me a grand and he would get a win and justify his trip.
I didn’t pay a penny.
There are plenty of fine people working for the government.
But I wouldn’t trust an FBI agent if he told me it was Tuesday.
