‘Very frightening’: Opposition grows to US agents in cities

PORTLAND -- The Trump administration is facing growing pushback - in the courts and on the streets - to sending federal agents to Portland, Oregon, where protests have spiraled into violence, and vowing to do the same in other Democratic-led cities.

Far from tamping down the unrest that followed George Floyd’s death at the hands of Minneapolis police, the presence of federal agents on the streets of progressive Portland - and particularly allegations they have whisked people away in unmarked cars without probable cause - has energized two months of nightly protests that had begun to devolve into smaller, chaotic crowds.

“It is time for the Trump troops to go home and focus their attention on other activities,” Democratic Gov. Kate Brown said on MSNBC.

Federal authorities, however, said state and local officials had been unwilling to work with them to stop the vandalism and violence against federal officers and the U.S. courthouse in Portland.

Crowds had recently numbered fewer than 100 people but swelled to more than 1,000 over the weekend, again attracting a broader base in a city that’s increasingly unified and outraged.

Among the protesters was Mardy Widman, who watched demonstrations against racial injustice unfold in her hometown for weeks but stayed away because, at 79, she feared getting the coronavirus.

When Trump sent in federal officers, that changed: A masked Widman took to the street Monday with other Portland residents.

“It’s like a dictatorship,” Widman, a grandmother of five, said, holding a sign that read: “Grammy says: Please feds, leave Portland.”

“I mean, that he can pick on our city mostly because of the way we vote and make an example of it for his base is very frightening,” she said.

The only push back is coming from the liberal mayors and other local officials who support the destruction of their cities, along with the Washington Democrats who refuse to condemn the violence....

I can’t help but think most of the country supports stopping the violence and destruction...

The AP is not in the least bit bothered by looting, arson, rioting, over 700 souls slaughtered in the last two months since the riots started. Nope.
But try and stop the killings and the AP is “frightened” all of a sudden.

“It’s like a dictatorship,” Widman, a grandmother of five, said, holding a sign that read: “Grammy says: Please feds, leave Portland.”

Which is why you are free to hold that sign and lie about the President with no chance of retaliation of any sort. Meanwhile, people who say something as simple as "I am voting again for the President" have to keep it hidden because they might be harassed, fired, etc. Yeah, really sounds like the President is a dictator. You certainly nailed it, granny.

That’s a great political move but it won’t go anywhere. Except in rare cases involving international matters, civil lawsuits for monetary damages related to negligence or malfeasance come under state law.

Federal agencies have the right to protect federal property and employees.

That is what happened.

But the left and media have LIED and said these agents were unmarked and just picked people off the streets.

None of that is true.

Gillian F at the Ass Press is a frightening evil propagandist .
The fact they publish such lies and hate makes me wonder if they are a
Antifa Marxist operation too.

But if (God Forbid) Biden wins, watch how fast the left suddenly LOVES federal law enforcement. Especially if some red state refuses to enforce new gun control laws or the like. They same people now calling federal law enforcement Nazi’s, will be demanding the same agents be sent in at once and crush any opposition.

But they know people will buy it and spread it. I just look at people on twitter talking (regurgitating) about Fed Agents “kidnapping” people. How ridiculous! Cross state lines and set fire to a Fed building and get a warrant on yourself and yeah, you will get “kidnapped”. It is called Arrest. And they can arrest wherever they can find you.
