Here’s a myth about gun control that supercedes all others: that the States are free to regulate guns as they choose. But the Second Amendment is a national liberty guaranteed by the Constitution that each State ratified and agreed to. The phrase “a free State” refers to the free State of the United States since no individual colony/state was “free” upon ratification of the Constitution that bound them together. To accept the myth of State regulation you must accept that all other Amendments are also subject to individual State regulation.
