I worked with a guy who was on a ship waiting to be in the first wave of troops to invade Japan and he was 100% certain he would die. The bomb saved his life. He would break down every Aug 6th when demonstrators said we should not have dropped the bomb.

My father’s corp was preparing to go to Japan for the expected invasion. He was in the signal corp, preparing radios and telephones for salt air and rainy weather conditions when they got the word the bomb had been dropped and the war was over. I’m here because of the bomb, my father was convinced he wouldn’t have made it through the invasion of Japan alive.

Obongo believes it is wrong that the US has nukes but Iran does not. His Cheif advisor and BFF is Iranian.

“He would break down every Aug 6th when demonstrators said we should not have dropped the bomb.”

Like today’s protestors and rioters engaging in looting, burning and violence (who will probably add the nuclear weapons to their list of grievances against the U.S. when the 6th arrives), those demonstrators weren’t there at the time; they weren’t in the circumstances of those who were.

President Truman really felt he had no other option. Invading Japan would have killed 100,000s, if not millions?, of American soldiers.

So, again unlike the perpetual malcontents, he chose the United States over the enemy.
