“Defunding Planned Parenthood didn’t happen, but not because of Trump. It failed because two Republican senators, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins, voted “no” when the measure came up.”
This is a clear case of TRIBALISM - never forget it. We can elect women (or people from other ‘groups’) who claim to be conservative, but when it come to showing their backbone against ‘their own’, forget it. But it’s not the end of the world for us, since they are helpful in many other areas (for example, if a Democrat had been in the Senate instead of Collins, Kavenaugh would NOT be on the Supreme Court), but it is a cost to Republicans of trying to branch out a bit and pull in other types.
So my point being is that if Collins is with us 80% of the time, and, say (Amnesty-lover) Rubio is also with us 80% of the time, we’ll get at least one of these votes 95% of the time - whereas we’ll get at least one of these votes 0% of the time, if Dems are in these seats.
If a person has no idea of what Trump has done these past almost 4 years how could you recruit them.
No one is beyond hope. Look at Leo Terrell.
It’s a Clownhall liberal. He will never vote for Trump.
“Why should I bother to read about how some Never Trumper was wrong?”
Because we can’t afford circular firing squads! We need every soldier we can get. Welcome to this brother!
I understand your frustration with #neverTrumpers.
For one thing, the whole idea of declaring ones self a neverTrumper is absurd. Saying never in this context is like saying that you will not be open-minded. You will not be open to new facts or information.
But putting aside the never part of it, I think it is perfectly legitimate for people to doubt that a politicians deeds will match his campaign rhetoric.
After all, dont most politicians lie to get elected?
So, if people doubted in 2016 that Donald Trump was a conservative or even that he was a real Republican, and opposed him - thats OK.
And if these people, having seen him keep his promises, publicly recant - thats even better.
The neverTrumpers that I hate are the ones who were jealous of his success and resented his ability to quickly rise to the top of the Republican Party. Or the pundits who said he could never win, and became bitter because he proved them so wrong. Or the ones who chose early on, to believe that every horrible meme or smear levied against Trump was true, and are unwilling to believe otherwise.
These people hate him for his success - and the more he keeps his promises, the more they will hate him.
So who did he vote for in 2016 if not Trump?
Because it may give you information to help convert someone else to the cause.
Very good answer!
What you are is an effin D*wad. You didn't really need to announce that to the whole world.
Its quite simple, I will gladly take every convert we can get. I know two who voted for Johnson last time who are fully with Trump this time. Welcome aboard!
Good to hear, but it took him this long to figure it out?????
When I voted for Trump it was because he was the best of a bad lot. He was saying the right things, he had the right enemies and he seemed to have a core of decency. And he was not a lawyer. Lawyers have their place but that place is not in government. So I hoped but I was prepared to be severely disappointed.
Have I been disappointed? A bit. He did not do things exactly like I would prefer.
Is he much better then I feared? Yep.
Did he do everything he promised? Nope.
Did he at least go down swinging? Yep.
Did he keep trying? Yep.
And that is about all you can ask for.
I voted for Trump to keep Hillary out who is proven evil Trump might not be perfect but i never felt he was evil
Thank you
So, was he an Idiot then or is he an Idiot now?
Not Voting in 2016 was tantamount for Voting for the Butcheress of Benghazi.
Whatever, I’ll still take his Vote this time around.
Pretty sure Trump will do just fine even without this person’s vote.
needed 100% proof that Trump would be prolife,
In all fairness I always check what any GOP candidate's position is on abortion because many Establishment politicians are squishy on the subject. They will say they're pro-life but then won't do anything about it. That's how we still have Roe vs. Wade in 2020. Verifying the pro-life credentials of an unknown like 2016 Trump isn't traitorous. It's doing your due diligence as a voter.
Did this guy think Hillary was going to do anything for the pro-life cause? If this was so important to him, he should have taken a chance and given Trump his vote.
