BTW bacteria are giants when compared to viruses. The smallest bacteria are about 0.4 micron (one millionth of a meter) in diameter while viruses range in size from 0.02 to 0.25 micron.

So are we trying to stomp out all bacteria and virus, or 'flatten the COVID curve'? Lots of hidden agendas at work, most of which are at the expense of our rights and liberties.

If 165,000 people have died you’d find one liberal media one story after another showing the family grieving. You’d be able to name several people that have died that you personally know, yet, so many people I’ve asked no of no one that has even been sick.

Because the flu doesn’t have the same level of virulence and complications for a different demographic than the COVID 19 virus. And guess what, Ebola is more dangerous than flu as well.

Tests have already been down showing that for a respiratory virus masks are of no use whatsoever. See my earlier reply: Masks have a problem handling aerosols. Sorry for the length. What started this for me was this interesting Canadian article published in April: (https://www.rcreader.com/commentary/masks-dont-work-covid-a-review-of-science-relevant-to-covide-19-social-policy). It went over existing international studies (including CDC, WHO, and NIH contributors) on the effectiveness of masks and social distancing for a respiratory virus. I’ve reviewed the highlighted references (only abstracts in a few cases) and spotted nothing that contradicts the paper’s observations. It doesn’t appear to be biased. Specifically as to masks recall that more than half of the droplets in your breath are <2.5um in size – an aerosol. And, any single droplet can infect anyone, and they stay airborne indefinitely. So; from the article and its numerous references:  Any gap in the mask will allow easy droplet access – in fact, any gap will act as a funnel to suck in the droplet. My comment: If in doubt, press down on all the gaps around your own mask. If it becomes more difficult to suck in a breath, you had gaps.  There is no significant advantage of N95 respirators over regular surgical masks. All let aerosol droplets in. Yes, the respirators ought to work, and they do with bacteria, which hitch a ride in larger droplets. But, there is no test to show that they do so with a virus: and all tests show NO, repeat NO, reliable advantage. Even for health care workers.  A quote from one of the sub-tier references ( A Cluster Randomised Trial of Cloth Masks Compared With Medical Masks in Healthcare Workers C Raina MacIntyre etal ): “Penetration of cloth masks by particles was almost 97% and medical masks 44%.” Note, that means a tightly secured cloth mask will only catch 3% of the infected droplets. The droplets are simply too small to be filtered out by any material that you can also breath thru. My comment: If in doubt, don a mask and take a deep breath near someone wearing cologne. If you can smell them, you also breathed in some droplets. The unfortunate conclusion here is that since even respirators have no advantage, and regular masks don’t significantly protect at all, no single mask is of any use in stopping either the inhalation or exhalation of infected aerosol droplets. Oh, and the article has a long list of probable adverse health impacts on healthy people wearing a mask, and questions along that line. This is sort of supported by recent WHO cautions against wearing a mask while exercising. Overall Conclusion on Masks and Distancing: They are totally incapable of any beneficial effect whatsoever. Masks don’t stop aerosols and aerosols float about “forever” everywhere in a room. If you take a breath, you inhaled some aerosol. Forcing masks and distancing is simply an attempt to keep population calm. Nothing else. I.e., “We are doing what we can, trust us.” If you continue to breath and stay healthy, it is because of the luck of genetics (thank your parents) and your keeping yourself healthy enough up to now to fight off still another of the thousands of virii all around us – pat yourself on the back for that. So, stay calm (and Chive on?). Oh, and wash your hands – that is all that is left.
