Despite the Chinese in the People's Republic being officially atheist, there is still a lot of people there that still have Confucian and Taoist beliefs. The Mandate of Heaven is a big part of that traditionalist belief.
If the Three Gorges Dam collapses, we may have the biggest man-made disaster outside of war ever recorded. Tens, if not hundreds, of millions of lives are now at stake upstream and downstream of the dam.
I’m torn. Part of me wishes it would collapse and wipe out a bunch of cities like Wuhan and most likely hurt the ccp badly. The other part of me doesn’t want millions of people to die.
That dam is not going to go and is in no danger. It has 42 flood gates and the most used so far are 9. The level of the lake impounded nas been lowered by design, by breaching levees up stream to allow the river to flow into the natural flood plain that extends for untold square miles.
The chinese hydrologists have the flood under control with several dams and breached levees. The proof of this pudding is Shanghai which is on the river but has not been flooded by flow control upstream.
For the record, Severe flooding on out mississippi river is also controlled by breaching levees in the same manner.
Be a shame if some mysterious earthquake hit the area. Real shame.
I don't know--both Nanjing and Shanghai have the Yangtze overflow in a number of areas around the city now.

Probably. But what an incredible liability that dam would be in the event of a major war. Kind of like the Aswan Dam in Egypt.
Not hoping for a disaster when the war drums are beating, but few realize during the Korean War, China massed and launched over 380,000 troops across the NK border to push back our troops.....our retreat was all the way to the current DMZ . What stopped the Chicoms from pushing the US into the sea? A huge pandemic, a FLU which incapacitated and killed over 60 percent of the Godless hoards. The devastation was so great the Chicoms accused the US for unleashing biological weapons ( check out the Chicoms propaganda posters of those days)....point is, the good Lord works in mysterious ways,.....God’s plan will not be changed by man, rest easy, fear not.

Would targeting a “civilian “ target with massive civilian casualties be considered a war crime these days? Should we care? We don’t fight wars to win these days like we did in WWII. We each have our own opinions about that.

....might as well be athiest. Just as worthless. Thats why they are exterminating Christians. Those with a real message or are a threat tend to be erradicated.
