WASHINGTON In a claim likely to intensify the controversy surrounding one of the most influential figures in the American Christian conservative movement, a business partner of Jerry Falwell Jr has come forward to say he had a years-long sexual relationship involving Falwells wife and the evangelical leader.

Sorry for putting the URL in the title field.
The headline:
“Business partner of Falwells says affair with evangelical power couple spanned seven years”
The rocks are crying out. When I saw him wearing a single earring, I knew he wasn’t completely Christian.
He deserved to lose his position, but we should be praying for his soul.
“When I saw him wearing a single earring,”
You mean Falwell was wearing an earring? Seriously?
I’ve seen some terrific pastors brought down by this. I pray for him and his family. Nothing else. Something about metes and logs or something.
Unless I’m mistaken, I saw a single pierced earring in that photograph when he had his pants undone with that woman with her pants undone. It was reflecting off the flash of the cellphone.
As Grace Jones once said, “Us preacher kids always turn out to be more interesting!”
The scumbag is destroying decades of work and countless lives. I wonder how many knew?
Bizarre...
I don’t blame Jerry Jr for watching his wife mate with the pool boy. She’s hot.
This guy has a yacht? “Take up your yacht and follow me” must come from one of those new Bible translations.
He does claim to be a pastor...he is the leader of Liberty University!!!
“I saw a single pierced earring in that photograph “
Eeewww. That’s just creepy. Some jewelry is better for Christians to avoid (IMO only). The last time I went in to a Bible store I couldn’t find a King James Bible, BUUUT ... they were selling toe rings at the register.
Did I mention .. “the LAST time...”?
He is a man. While alleged failures like this are disturbing (and likely more common than we know) and certainly don’t help lead/keep people in the faith, they should remind us that our salvation does not come from a church, a denomination, a pastor, or a university. Our salvation is only found in God and not any institute of man or individual man. I fervently wish more people understood that our relationship with God is one on one and its not dependent on anyone else.
Man can (and often will) fail you, but God never will. He does not grant wishes like a “genie in a bottle” during our mortal lives, but He offers you eternity with Him.
You are indeed correct. That university will never be the same and lives will be ruined as a result.
Billy and Franklin Graham all of a sudden are looking really, really smart. At least they seemed to realize what was likely to destroy their ministry.
What a screw-up.
So ... Reuters publishes an allegation ... and presumably right-leaning, Christian-friendly FReepers gobble it all up and start hating on the accused.
Guilty until proven innocent.
Nice.
It appears they have or had an open marriage.
