I think there’s a good possibility that it’s a knife since the cop still has his weapon pointed directly at the guy.

Knife or keys, it doesn’t matter. He resisted arrest and ignored police commands and “REACHED” into his vehicle.
At that point, it doesn’t matter whether there was a weapon in the car or not. The officer need not find out by DYING!.
