Propane, butane, sometimes liquid fuel with nitrogen or something for pressure.

Various places sell them, or torches they call flamethrowers.

They are used by farmers for weed control, fire fighters to make fire breaks, people for pest control (think of a swarm of African killer bees among other things) and I once read that they use them some places for snow and ice removal. And some people get or make them for fun.

Mine runs on propane. I bought it for about 30 bucks.

I use it on my drainage ditch.
