insane fire behavior fire...
with thunder and lightning observed
radar showing tight rotation within the fire meaning fire tornadoes possible
Shelter in the reservoir? Thats serious.
Obviously some frickin idiot started the fire somehow. We’ve been dealing with a fire in the southern Sierra for the last two weeks. Now this one is huge. We’re praying for rain.probably won’t happen but it couldn’t hoyt.
Air Drop a bunch of inflatable rafts.
One of the california Alert Wildfire cameras is pointed towards it (updates automatically every minute or so. And you can click the play arrow in the upper left to get a timelapse).

Right on schedule. Labor Day week-end, of course!
They just reported this fire at 36,000 acre in just 24 hours. That’s 25 acres a minute or 19 football fields, hopefully not football fields with socially important messaging in the end zones.
Scary! Prayers up for these people. I hope they are able to get to safety!
Why is there always only 1 road in/out? Why not create another narrow road for emergency exit out?
After all, everything else in our society nowadays is moot if we aren't more afraid of the virus than we are from the fire itself.
Some of the 150 trapped campers have been evacuated (by Chinook heli)...arriving at the Fresno Air Terminal now:
