Photos have emerged on Chinese social media showing the assembly of two massive warships at the Jiangnan Shipyard outside Shanghai, where the PLANs next two aircraft carriers are being built. Anonymous, independent sources told the South China Morning Post (SCMP) they are indeed the first two Type 002 carriers, the first of which will be completed next year.

It says they will have a catapult system, but do their carrier aircraft have the gear to handle it?
Speaking of international arms dev and trade, is sukhoi-30mki still around? Used to seeing him in these threads but just realized I haven’t seen any posts or threads from him in a while.
Ping.

Hi.
Help me here.
I haven’t seen nor read of any carrier qualifications, tactical operations or recovery regarding the first carrier.
Nor combined operations with a strike group.
Did I miss something?
I’d love to be present for the carrier qualifications.

Fatman6502002 is the resident Navy gear specialist, so I’ve pinged him.
[Jeff Head is alive]
Same here...
In reading about General Patton he’d say “Pretty, but can they fight?” Having aircraft carriers without the experience of like our Navy for over a hundred years means nothing. The Japanese also found that out especially during the battle of Midway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bd8_vO5zrjo
We sunk 4 enemy carriers at Midway.
Same for Jeff Head.
The PLAN has made advances, no doubt about that. But in key systems and platforms the PLAN will come up woefully short compared to US and Allied technology. Also, my friends/colleagues from my former life tell me Chinese stealth technology leaves a lot to be desired; the claims by Russia and China that they can track US stealth aircraft are total BS; intercepts of telemetry (SIGINT) cofirm this. The CCP are spoiling for a fight and I think their wishes are going to come true, but they’re going to have to take the first shot. They may get in that one shot and cripple a CSG but whatever tactics/deceptions they used will only work once; the US does have a history of being caught with our fly down, so to speak; I’m doubtful as to whether that will change in the upcoming war with the CCP). Either way the outcome of said war is not in doubt, rest assured of that.
