“And what has Joe Biden ever accomplished? “
The lack of national will to follow through after the second Persian Gulf war by maintaining a significant military presence in Iraq stands in contrast to the U.S. posture after WWII, in which we maintained forces in Germany, Italy, and Japan for generations.
The old saying: “A picture is worth a thousand words” is proven true...and even more so with that comparison.
It’s amazing how the “weird beards” can totally destroy an up and coming society. It’s better to destroy the “weird beards” instead.
Big correction necessary.
Well, in fairness, we didn’t have a cadre of tens of thousands of Germans, Italians or Japanese willing to kill American occupiers, blow them up with IEDs and ambushes, take hostages and slowly cut of their heads with rusty knifes, nor prey on their own civilian populations, killing thousands, either.
Kabul 2004
General Keane’s statements about Iran’s dictators back on their heels cheered me. I recommend watching interviews of him on Youtube.
I think it was not just diplomacy, but the correct type of diplomacy that got things rolling.

Forming the alliance is in fact an act of war that is in fact an aggressive act that projects immense military power
The question becomes, how much can the Iranian people take before they revolt
In the 1980’s we had a male Iranian engineer working in our department. He frequently wore tight leather pants. The women in the building voted him as having the “Best Buns”. There were 400 engineers in the building. I am not sure where I can in on the voting.
The so-called Werewolves. I served 4 years in Germany and discussed this with Germans who were alive at the time. As far as this threat was, it was well anticipated but never fully materialized.
The Germans were tired of war, and the public release of the atrocities ended what little support for the Nazis that was left, as well as the real threat of the Soviets to the East. Opposing us could potentially see us walk away. That is something they most surely did NOT want.
There was also no resistance in Italy nor Japan.
Hardy a menace equal to Al Qaeda, The Shia militias, the Sunni Uprising or ISIS.
