Plus mountains of dead flying creatures and who knows what the House sized concrete base underground is doing
If it saves muvver erf, so what? Grrrrrrrrrr! But, I’m sure some industrious FReeper could find a use for them. :-)
Feral cats have learned to congregate near these windmills.
They have a place in our future, a small one.
Gee, what do you think a lump of concrete is “doing”?
Ever hear of “rock”?
Life cycle = 20 years
Wind Turbines = Non-Value Added
This does not include disposal cost for indestructible blade waste or the environmental impact of the the eyesore, noise, and bird kill.
Expensive to put up
produce little real (constant) power
Cost even more to take down

who gets sturck with the bill to de-commission?

**you** the taxpayer or you the **rate** payer.
The only Green in wind power is the massive subsidy the developer walks away with.
Wind turbines have the BIGGEST environmental footprint of any type of energy.
Nuclear has the smallest even though unneeded land is required by the government.
Hey, it’s not my fault
I meant “Nucular”. (W)
They sit there and constantly remind you of the agenda and they are always in the most scenic areas, no comrade, you cannot own the view with your purchase of land, it is the States!
I'd wish they'd be honest, and paint the Hammer and Sickle on the blades, that a given RPM it stays still much like various safety paint schemes on aircraft Propeller and Turbofan Spinners.
How I revile them....
Their are so many solutions, Combined Cycle Natural Gas before Gen 3 & 4 Nuclear unless Fusion supplants them all, yes MIT says 10 yrs, (look for the article) and I live an interesting life, I knew that over a yr ago as I have a gnome that told me about it, now that it's public, it's ok to say it.
Gov SMURFY is putting a ‘Wind port’ off the Coast of southern New Jersey in 2021.. Washington Compost’s bias article.. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-solutions/2020/06/16/new-jersey-aims-lead-nation-offshore-wind-so-its-building-biggest-turbine-port-country/
Everything treehuggers do winds up with more waste than what was replaced.
I am always amused by articles that point out that these “renewable” energy sources are not as environmentally friendly as the greenies think. This one has the added bonus of pointing out that nuclear is the most efficient, economical and reliable energy source.
What’s a “muvver erf?
Took me a second....
USED turbine blades are a disaster. Landfills won’t take them.
One state tried to ship them to South Dakota...and got turned down.
This is all about the tax credits. Firm A constructs the windfarm and can take the tax credit for 5-7 years. Then Firm A sells windfarm to Firm B after 5-7 years when the credit has expired. Firm B now takes the tax credit for 5-7 years. Firm B then sells windfarm to Firm C and then takes the full tax credit.
WITH THE SUPPORT OF FEDERAL TAX INCENTIVES...STOP... PERIOD.
Without tax supports, they cost way more and no one would ever invest in them.
