Personal opinion (probably not popular): I think that it takes a lot to make Joe Biden look like a decent option. I think that Trump somehow managed to do that tonight. I think that he did a horrible job and came across as a jerk. I think a lot of people will have the same opinion.

To be clear, I’m a hard right conservative and will be voting for Trump. I can’t in any way at any time pull the lever for the liberal option. I just don’t think that Trump did his cause any good tonight.

He didn’t, of course you’re about to be attacked by a bunch of morons who dont understand that Trump needs more voters than there are freepers to actually win an election.

Well, you’ll be called a Karen by the self-righteous here. I didn’t think Trump did his best tonight either. Now, we know he was debating 2 against 1 but still, he needs to hold his temper and interruptions.

I’ll vote Trump.

I think that he did a horrible job and came across as a jerk.

Why?

Biden (1) collapsed at the very beginning in his refusal to answer questions, (2) obfuscated and rambled the rest of the way through, (3) Trump was clearly debating two people, both of whom were distorting and lying.

Is your position that because Trump spoke forcefully and interrupted his opponents that he harmed himself? Do you have any evidence that regular people even worry about that sort of thing? These same criticisms were leveled at Trump during the Hillary debates. Trump won Blue States that same election year.

I agree with you. Trump came across as too aggressive for most people. It was funny at first but became nearly unwatchable. However, Trump still has my vote.

I agree completely. Trump did himself no favors. I’m really sorry about that.

I think you are wrong. Joe looked confused at times....and Wallace chimed in and covered for him. Interesting that Biden had notes that he read. When Wallace would say, we are moving on to next segment....you could see Biden immediately look down at his notes. He always checked what was coming next.

I thought Wallace was an absolute disgrace.

It’s an unpopular opinion but one I share and we here at the house share even though all of us are Trump voters. My military buddy says the same. Trump forgets he is trying to win the middle undecided voter and keeps playing for his base. The best debate for him would had been one where most people here would have been disappointed in his fight. But the fact most everyone here is fired up proves my point. He came across as a jerk to the swing voter who is the 10% who hasn’t made up his mind.

As my son just said: he should had commended Joes son Bo for his service. Trump doesn’t have that decency in him. It plays well here-but not out there.

Well said, and I totally agree even though this also won't be a popular opinion - as does my wife and a very good friend that I was texting with during the debate, both of who are rock solid conservatives.

As someone else said..Trump better accept some training for the next debate. He obviously did not prepare and thought he could just run tonight like he did a press conference where he fights with the reporters. BAD STRATEGY for a debate - especially one watched by (likely) 90 million plus people.

If we didn't lose the election tonight, I'd be shocked. Oh, I'm sure Trump will chalk up a loss to fraud, and there's likely to be a lot of it - but this loss will be on him, and acting like a jerk in front of ~90 million people, fraud aside.

It's great to be a "fighter" and I know FR loves that about him - but we're a relatively small chunk of the electorate. And these candidates need to appeal to a BROAD swatch of people..not just our little corner of the web here on FR. And do any of you think Trump REALLY appealed to most independents, suburban women, elderly voters, etc with that performance tonight? Not a chance.

I'm still voting for him, as is wife and good friend I mentioned - but none of us are nearly as confident as we were at 8:59 PM ET tonight.
