My expectations are low.
Table has been set to bash Trump over his taxes for virtually the entire debate. Biden has already been fed the questions Donna Brazile-style. Chris Wallace will play along. Joe will get the kid glove treatment. We have to hope that his brain starts blowing circuits on-air.
I wonder if Trump’s response will be(since he did say he would be releasing his tax returns at some point)...the reason why the Times got my taxes was because I released them to the Times thru intermediaries!
Indeed what if Trump has done that....I thought his comment about his taxes in the last coupled of weeks seemed rather cryptic...he did say he would be releasing them “very soon”.
That would blow the whole tax conspiracy right out of the water and leave a lot of egg on a lot of faces. It would be the only reason in my mind why the Times got so much of his taxes and why they are saying at first glance there isn’t a lot there. The talk is shifting from tax fraud to “tax avoidance” but even what they have shown so far looks legal!
I would have released my taxes that way....and then waited until the hubbub was just right and then say...the reason why the Times got the taxes was because I released them that way...meet Ed and Fred, the two I gave my records to, to give to the Times while pretending to work against me!
If Trump comes out and says he was the one that slipped the Times his taxes...that will blow the debate wide open....as it is, it was illegal for the Times to do what they did, the Pentagon papers case not withstanding!
