Okay .... LOTS of people who wear masks still get sick. These masks do not, for the most part, protect against small particles and per the CDCs latest “revised” guidance, covid does in fact linger in the air in the form of small aerosol particles, after being exhaled, rendering masks even less useful than they already were.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/preventing-coronavirus-facemask-60-minutes-2020-03-08/

“There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask,” infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci told 60 Minutes.

While masks may block some droplets, Fauci said, they do not provide the level of protection people think they do. Wearing a mask may also have unintended consequences: People who wear masks tend to touch their face more often to adjust them, which can spread germs from their hands.

For years this is the guidance based on the fact most respiratory viruses like the common flu that are also airborne. This virus is no different than those as far as transmission is concerned.

The minimal benefit of a mask does not equate to the hysterical environment theyve created to ensure their continued existence in society.

Lockdowns and masks cannot kill the virus. In addition to a vaccine, populations need actually get the virus and recover from it for the virus to disappear. Your numbers seem a bit skewed. It funny in the the throes of the covid places werent really getting overwhelmed. My wifes a nurse in Boston...waited and waited for the “surge” that never came. Protect the elderly and infirm. If you like a mask wear one...but its just a placebo....as Dr Fauci has explained.

Those are bacterial cultures. They have nothing to do with this virus.

The bacteria are spread the same way as the virus: airborne particles.

So I suppose you are making the argument that we should all be required to wear masks FOREVER?

Nice straw man you got going there, but no, I don't see the need for masks after a vaccine is distributed.

If that’s your opinion you should come right out and say it. Not hide behind a cute graphic that is making precisely that argument.

The graphic is what it is. I have no control over what inference you choose to draw from it.

That presupposes that they all get sick and go to the hospital at the exact same time..

No, they won't all get sick at the exact same time, but if there's enough of a surge ICUs could still be overwhelmed. We know that masks and social distancing help flatten the curve, which not only prevents ERs from being swamped but boosts consumer confidence in the economy as well.

How do we ever live thru a little rain or misting fog with all this stuff in the air ready to kill us.
Space helmets for everyone!

The 60 Minutes segment you list is from MARCH. The CDC has since revised its opinion. Frankly all Fauci had to do was ask our East Asian allies like Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. They all masked up on Day 1 of the pandemic. Notice that their economies have been reopened AND they have lower COVID numbers than we do, in spite of having higher population density.

Taiwan:22 cases and 0.3 deaths per million

Japan: 678 cases and 13 deaths per million

South Korea: 473 cases and 8 deaths per million

US: 23,174 cases and 649 deaths per million

People who wear masks tend to touch their face more often to adjust them, which can spread germs from their hands

That's a reason to teach people proper mask use, not to discontinue wearing masks altogether.

The minimal benefit of a mask does not equate to the hysterical environment theyve created to ensure their continued existence in society.

Is it "hysterical" to buckle your seat belt before starting your car? Putting on a mask is about the same level of inconvenience.

Lockdowns and masks cannot kill the virus.

Nobody ever said they did, just slow the spread to manageable levels, so that fewer people die before we find a vaccine.

In addition to a vaccine, populations need actually get the virus and recover from it for the virus to disappear.

If we find a good vaccine there is no need to get the virus to get herd immunity. I'll take the option that doesn't come with a four- or five-figure medical bill and a risk of permanent lung damage or blood clots.

It funny in the the throes of the covid places werent really getting overwhelmed.

Tell that to these folks.

Protect the elderly and infirm.

Youth and health didn't stop a coworker of my brother's from being hospitalized for 2 weeks because of COVID or from feeling terrible for 2 months afterwards. I am a healthy 30 year old and while I doubt I would die from it, I don't trust the narrative being pushed on us that it would just be a case of sniffles for someone like me. See "blood clots" and "permanent lung damage". Many of the folks pushing that narrative aren't scientists but business owners who have a vested interest in getting people to pretend everything is normal. These are often the same business owners who hire illegals under the delusion that they don't really need the American people except as walking wallets to support them.

They sure did change their guidance. The question is why? There’s nothing we know we now that we didn’t know about the viruses transmissibility...this latest revelation of aerosol transmission is an admission of something they’ve known all along. The latest revelation is just the latest thing to fall in line with how the common flu spreads. The reason the CDC doesn’t demand folks wears masks each flu season is because they know outside a medical environment they are essentially useless. The actual stated reason for these folks early disapproval of masks was.... wait for it.... to save supply. These statements are how they framed the need to stockpile PPE? Not... masks are very important but may be in short supply so use something anything to protect you from this virus... it was don’t worry about masks.

“We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection.”....MAY 2020 New England Journal of Medicine

True story.

Just masks huh? In those small Asian nations? You’re over thinking it... listen to the experts...Before the narrative was hatched.
