Joe Biden Echoes Barack Obama’s Lie Of The Year: If You Like Your Employer-Provided Health Insurance, You Can Keep It
The Federalist ^ | October 9, 2020 | Christopher Jacobs

Reassuring and rosy campaign rhetoric aside, Biden’s health care plan could very well lead to the elimination of private health insurance.

Joe Biden has often said that his health-care plan wouldn’t disturb individuals who currently have coverage.

During the first presidential debate, he denied President Trump’s assertion that his plan would ban private insurance or take away coverage options. When rolling out his health-care plan last year, Biden went so far as to reiterate Barack Obama’s infamous “Lie of the Year;” the former vice president claimed that “If you like your employer-based plan, you can keep it.”

Except many Americans may not get to do that. Repeating something over and over again doesn’t make it so. As I outline in a recently released report, Biden’s policy proposals could do much to destabilize the current system of employer-based health coverage — putting us further down the path to a government-run single-payer system.

Key Features of the Biden Plan

The issue arises from two linked elements of Biden’s health-care platform. First, Biden would increase subsidies for coverage on the Obamacare exchanges. He hasn’t released all the specifics, but he wants to lower the share of income individuals must pay out-of-pocket in premiums, and provide additional cost-sharing assistance to handle things like deductibles and co-payments.

Second, Biden would allow individuals who currently have employer coverage to qualify for exchange subsidies. Obamacare created a so-called firewall between employer and exchange plans, such that individuals with an offer of “affordable” coverage from their employer cannot qualify for exchange subsidies.

Democrats originally included the firewall in Obamacare because they wanted to keep individuals with employer coverage in their employer plan, to lower the spending on Obamacare subsidies. Biden now has no such compunctions about increasing subsidy spending, so wants to repeal the firewall entirely.

People Likely to Switch

The richer subsidies, coupled with the repeal of the firewall, would mean that many individuals with employer coverage will switch to exchange plans.

The biggest lie the scum tell: Medicare For Everybody.

That really means Medicare for NO ONE.

The money we had taken from us all our lives will go to illegals who got here yesterday afternoon , to newly added welfare moochers and tens of millions of people added to the system in a few weeks time, destroying the ability to continue with Medicare. Some plan./s

The millions of the world’s welfare seeking immigrants coming into the newly borderless USA month by month will also drain the urgent car and emergency rooms and bankrupt the hospital systems. Millions in surveys around the world said if they could do so they would emigrate to the USA. AOC: abolish ICE. Others: Destroy the Trump Wall.

Don’t Americans know that?

The government doesn’t have control over what plans businesses provide to their employees

My federal employee plan DOUBLED in price because of Obamacare.

So, I had to switch to a less expensive plan. The new plan doesn’t cover some meds that I take. So, I have to pay out of pocket full price. (There is no alternative that works as well at this time). My other plan covered them.

Democrats have to lie to win elections.

If they were honest about their aims, people would reject them.

Yea, I have. I even called the drug company. The discounts are helpful, but it’s still expensive.

Since I’m on Medicare/Tricare Life let me chime in, IT SUCKS.

1 of my Needed meds Linzess which is quite expensive PA ran out, I still have refills. Tricare won’t fill the script, Gastro is out of town, his PA not qualified to do a PA. Not even qualified to be a PA in my opinion. She scripted a Med that was the equal of a 4lb bag of sugar tasted like Horse Manure. It plainly states not to Give to Diabetics, I’d just tripped over the A1C1 line into Diabetes, she never read my records. GI tract doesn’t work, Vagus nerve was damaged in a fall.

I’m so sorry to hear of your medical problems and difficulties with solutions. I hope you find ways to get through it all soon.

I think more people are messed up by the Medicare and health insurance plans that most people think. Still a crisis since Obamacare went through in that middle of the night session.

There’s no way the Dems can claim they can solve anything when they screwed up our health care themselves. Americans stupidly trust Biden more than Trump on this if polls are accurate. Which they aren’t.

Again, my best to you on resolving your health problems.
