I expect most people would know not to spread whatever news around anyway, when it comes to law enforcement agencies contacts.

If they threatened to kneecap him and his family if he talked, that would be another matter.

They probably didn’t want to take custody of the laptop. If they did, they would have to report on it and make an issue of it leading into the election, and it would have been bad for Biden.

So they were probably trying to tell the guy to sit on it...until after the election.
