Siamese Cats originated from Siam (Thailand?), thus the name.
Does that mean they’re going to re-release Song of the South?
*yawn* wake me when they re-release Song of the South...
"Is like Gorky said in 'Lower Depths'...Quote 'Miserable Being Must Find More Miserable Being, then is Happy' Unquote"
What ? were is SONG OF THE SOUTH ,,all time classic
Bring on “Song of the South”!
So...why not re-release Song of the South with a disclaimer?
It’s not the old ones that need a warning.
“Tonka, the Wild One”
Disney+ won’t even include Songs of the South, a combination live person and animation movie that was released in 1946. Uncle Remus, Brer Rabbit et al are apparently too controversial for today’s snow flakes.
I saw it when I was kid and maybe once again in my early adult life. I really enjoyed it. I would watch it again.
Zip-a-dee-do-dah
Racism can be found everywhere, in anything, and all periods of time.
It’s just a matter of looking deep and long enough, and interpreting just about anything as ‘racist’ or racism. You can find whatever you wish to find, it that’s your goal.
The biggest example of racism: being born white. God discriminated by creating whitey.
If any hint of racism were to be erased from all books and all movies and all speeches and all magazines and all newspapers and all TV, we’d end up with almost nothing to view or read or digest.
Who, in his right mind, subscribes to disney+?
Many, many more of the old TV classics will have to run disclaimers for the poor widdle snowflakes.
The older the program, the more warnings will be needed.
Imports from other countries will also need scrutiny.
We dont want to upset the poor widdle snowflakes. Ban chalk, too. And PoP Tarts that could be gnawed into the shape of a handgun. Oh the huge manatee!!!!
Of course, in order to find the original--and it's there on YouTube, unaltered--you need to search on Peggy Lee and Lady and the Tramp . .
. . which brings back a couple of YouTube clips from the original movie that won't be in the Disney+ release . .
. . and, in a Google search, a lecture on why the Siamese Cat Song is offensive.
It's 1984 plus 36 years. And we've always been at war with Eastasia.
I bought a Looney Tunes compilation ten years ago. It has a Whoopi Goldberg warning about content. That creepy broad should have had a Bugs Bunny warning about racist, self important, whatever kind of a beast she is.
Maybe if Warner Bros takes a cue from Disney, I’ll be able to see the Goofy Gophers and Speedy Gonzales again!
Oh Lordy. Utter nonsense
But those were just cats!
How about the Italian cook (Luigi) and his assistant cook, who were portrayed as actual human beings - but with stereotypical Italian looks and accents!
Despicable! /s
