For quite a while I could get chuck roast on sale for 3.59/lb, even at Whole Foods just a couple of weeks ago. Now, my local mega-mart is advertising chuck roast on sale for $5.99/lb, displayed prominently in their sales flyer as if it's a great deal.
Stores are running out of cans on my preferred brew. This is getting serious!
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. You can be sure that prices will be quite high even if turkey and other holiday staples are in ample supply. Cash in on the buying panic, ya know.
All through the covid thing, certain things have been in short supply temporarily, then they get them in again. Then other things run out.
The worst thing now is to write articles about shortages returning - that will just cause panic buying again. So I’m glad you posted this late at night. Hopefully few people will see it.
There is going to be a lot of shortages from many sources because of the COVID19 hoax. Winter is coming, many of us in the northern parts depend on good strong batteries for our vehicles and equipment. One of the huge battery suppliers, Interstate, evidently was not able to keep up with demand because of reduced output. They make very good batteries.

Interesting about the roast. I don’t buy roast or steak, but ground round is on sale here this week at one chain for $3.99 a pound.
One thing I found in short supply is canned pumpkin! I had decided to start getting stocked for the holidays in case it took a couple weeks to locate items. I assume it’s due to the aluminum shortage.
I went to my local Walmart yesterday, and it looked like a tornado had been through it. More empty shelves. It looked more like a going-out-of-business sale. I needed some Draino for my bathtub. They had none. They had some large containers of other brands, but I didn’t need a large one, so I settled on a small bottle of Liquid Plumber.
If you’re a gun nut, you’ve become accustomed to shortages.
production may be slowed again if there are any more cases of COVID-19 among workers. What do they expect when they tell you to stay home (with pay) if you feel sick?
I could get chuck roast on sale for 3.59/lb....chuck roast on sale for $5.99/lb, displayed prominently in their sales flyer as if it's a great deal. You can still get your roast, no shortage, so it is a great deal.
If people are dying they aren't eating. You'd think, if it's true about all these people dying from the virus there would be a surplus of food.
Many spices have been in short supply in eastern VA.
White pepper and smoked paprika took me a while to find and trips to multiple grocery stores.
We have SPAM shortage?
That’s a travesty!
Time to raise a few of our own hogs .
NO shortage of Coca Cola here in Columbus, Georgia. This city was where the famed formula for Coke started. There is a marker near the Chattahoochee River that mentions this.
My local Family Fare still has large holes in their canned soup section.
Prepper ping
The Hannafords here has been having terrific sales on meats
Baking supplies always go on sale around the holidays.
I do expect some shortages after the election especially if there is widespread unrest.
Additionally, winter is coming and I ALWAYS stock up for it..
Besides, the author is bemoaning shortages and then aside from baking supplies and canned soup, goes on to list soda and snacks and junk food.
Shortages of junk food are no disaster.
The tostitos black bean and garlic was fantastic. But they’re still making hint of lime so I’ll live.

Could not find canning lids this season. Local farm/ hardware stores had the for $6.99/doz. I wouldnt pay that but someone did. Ordered from Lehmans 10doz large and 10doz small. Still waiting. The freezer is full of veggies. Gonna need another for the meat
I've been stocking up in a big way on the absolute necessities, and that includes a couple of good water filters.. Don't forget the water filters.! You may find it necessary to get your drinking water from the creek... :(
I’ve been stocking up right along. Thank goodness for freezers. Gotta find a ham for pea soup. Have plenty of canned goods...soups, tuna, sauce and macaroni and rice.
I know about Hormel shortages. My beloved Tamales in Spicy sauce have been gone from shelves for months. Brummel ans Brown margarine was hard to get a while back, too.
Can’t get ANY brand of oven ready lasagna sheets to prepare at home. First my favorite, San Giorgio was gone, then Ronzoni, now no store brand, no nothing. Amazon has Ronzoni, but for something like $13 for a couple of packages on Prime.
