Took me almost an hour to get in to work. Slowly the rest of the troops arrived. We sat around for about an hour and command called and said the base was closed and to go home.

C'mon Pete, you felt like a bigger man because you made it while the other pussies were still stuck in the snow.

You beat on your chest though the whole first 6 pack.

Pretty much the whole company was in. Everybody pretty much knew the post was closed - but until you got the “official word” you had to operate as if it was open.

That was back when Ft Bragg was still an open post so at least we didn’t have to do the gate check.
