The slow-moving nature of mail everything on large reservations

Sounds like you, as with myself, have some familiarity.

You can't ever hurry on the Res unless you are a long-distance runner, in which case you move very fast and very far lol.

Former Governor of Montana, Democrat Brian Schweitzer, is on video bragging about how he kept the election from closing until they knew how many Democrat votes they needed from the Reservations to elect Democrat Jon Tester to the US Senate.

He admitted to a room full of lawyers that the Democrats cheated.

Good serious take on this.

I sometimes wonder if there is a similarity in opening hidden centers of the mind that are shared by Jesus in the wilderness, Moses , Elijah and also the shamans and others among Indians.

Swamis say the LSD type entry is too quick and artificial-—unless they are jealous after spending years of meditation themselves.

Society gives easy liquor access to people in hopeless or nearly hopeless situations such as in the poorest part of any urban area of the US.

By the way, your homepage is one of the most interesting on Free Republic. Well worth visiting, all.

Manufacturing democrat votes is a cottage industry on the Sioux reservations. They take the order and deliver whatever is needed. A few old ladies had to pay the price for getting caught a few years ago but they only got caught because no one told them that what they were doing was illegal.

One piece of mail going in and one coming out per voter. I bet Publishers Clearinghouse alone has ten times that flow of mail into the reservations.

Having a “sovereign” nation within a sovereign nation is contradictory. Either they are Americans, or they’re not.

Eliminate special treatment and privileges for all who claim to be “native Americans.” Close the reservations.

So vote in person. Like John Wayne said, life is hard. It’s harder when you’re stupid.

Cocktail napkin math: sqrt(2000) = 44.72. If a perfect square, it has edges of 44.72 miles. A corner to corner diagonal is 63.24 miles. A dead-center post office is 31.6 miles maximum distance from any point in the square. It's a rural setting. Long drives are the norm. 31.6 miles is not a long drive for a one-off trip to vote.

The local natives were wearing t-shirts with "Yes We Can. Yes We Did". Obama supporters. The most valuable real estate to them is the square foot supporting the mailbox to receive the monthly government check. They vote for the party that keeps sending the checks. The local merchants love it. When the big checks arrive, the car dealers and clothiers enjoy a windfall in sales activity.

The proximity of our local reservation brings car thieves and regular "beer runs" stealing beer from the mini-marts. Stolen cars get the aerosol spray can paint job. Recently, the car thieves have added shooting our our local PD officers. It makes for a fine relationship between our city and the reservation. I'm probably more aware than most in the area because my wife is a police dispatcher.

Last year I visited this area for two months.
So very poor with little vision of any future.
Many trying to live with the old ways.
Many who have given up.
