My niece by marriage is a Lumbee. It’s an interesting group. Good people, from South Central North Carolina. They lived in remote swampy areas, and took in escaped slaves and other renegades. They look African American but with more European noses, and a wide variety of skin tones. They are “very country” my sister says. If they become Federally recognized I’m not sure how that will benefit them or change their tribe.

If you become officially recognized you can hunt whenever you want and are not subject to limits or licenses- at least that is the case in Virginia!
