My wife and I recently watched the movie “Free State of Jones” with Matthew McConaughey. Near the end of the movie he and his rebels (and blacks) go in to vote, Republican. The guy running the vote says “We don’t have any of the Republican tickets - just the Democrat ones.”

“Well, my men aren’t afraid to die....” as they raise up their guns.

So the 23 Republicans get their tickets and vote.

Outcome of the vote?

421 Democrats.
2 Republicans.

The movie is based on a true story. Not sure how accurate the particulars are of the voting scene - but it sure seems probable.
