One of the 2020 elections biggest surprises turned out to be Hawaii, which saw the biggest pro-Trump swing since 2016, despite its long history of voting for Democrats.
Hawaii is on track for both the nations: 1) largest raw vote increase vs. 2016 (33.8% so far) 2) biggest pro-Trump swing vs. 2016 (-32.2 pts to -29.5 pts)
A Republican presidential candidate has not won Hawaii since former President Ronald Reagan in his landslide 1984 victory, which only saw him lose Washington, D.C. and Minnesota. While President Trump didn't win the state, his improvement there in a year that he lost ground in other states prompted Wasserman to speculate on what may have happened.
Another possibility: Hawaii is simply a working-class, overwhelmingly non-white state where a small segment of voters in real economic distress responded to Trumps COVID message similarly to Hispanic voters in South TX and South FL, Wasserman later tweeted.
A similar story played out in Florida, where Trump was captured nearly half of the Hispanic vote on his way to a larger victory in the state than in 2016. Miami-Dade County, which has a 69.4% Hispanic majority, made a 22-point swing toward Trump in 2020.

They did not bother with fraud there.
Probably that who banning airplanes things...
to all the good people here who predicted a 1984 red wave, I salute you.
You were absolutely right
Were it not for the incredible cheating, you would all have been vindicated for your incredible discernment with what your eyes and ears and heart told you
you were right
I can’t repeat it often enough
I just hope the Trump team can salvage a victory
Trump won by a bigger margin in Florida.
I'll bet that sort of thing happened in a LOT of states.
In reality.
That state does not use Dominion, AFAIK.
We were all robbed of the Red Tsunami.
Story upon story about Republicans beating incumbents, flipping seats, winning easily in races the polls said they were many points behind.
The President got out the vote like very few before him.
And we are being asked to believe he lost to a mentally-challenged man who stayed in his basement for most of the campaign, when he wasn’t having 10-person “rallies”?
This is ludicrous.
right
What I find curious is that Trump picked up a lot of Hispanic votes in south Florida and south Texas but apparently not in Arizona.
But his along with all the other rep wins Trump looses to Biden. BS election. It is so obvious.
I know in my gut NJ was in play.. That’s why SMURFY mandated mail-in voting.
I lived in Hawaii for over thirty years and I find this incomprehensible.
I retired and sailed away in 2007. Now I live in much more agreeable (But somewhat cooler) Southeast Alaska.
They called Hawaii for Biden two hours before the polls even closed.
I was thinking that the governor keeps extending the emergency when there has been ample time for the legislature to approve the COVID orders.
He got a higher percentage of the vote in Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and Pennsylvania than he did in 2016 as well. The problem is fewer people voted 3rd party (even disregarding any fraud).
If you had put a sarcasm note on your post, it would have been funnier.
except I wasn’t being sarcastic
