So much for adding a tip. I wouldn’t be in a party of eight or more so adding the mandatory gratuity to the bill is right now.
Sounds like they plan to pay someone specialized.

please note that we are launching a pilot Covid-19 testing program effective Tuesday November 24. For the remainder of 2020, we will REQUIRE that a rapid Covid-19 test be taken by all patrons before entering our restaurant on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The cost of the test is $50 per person and will be administered by a certified health professional upon arrival at City Winery. All City Winery employees will also take this test before entering, ensuring that 100% of individuals on the premises have tested negative that day.
There is a false negative rate of 20% or so. While false positives are near impossible.
Rapid tests are an OK way to see if one person is positive but a very poor way to ensure everyone in a room is NOT
I can get 3 boxes of Franzia for that much.
We who do not comply with the demands of the state or do so only reluctantly are all suspected thoughtcriminals now.
In “1984” Smith’s interrogator noted that “even the worst victim of Stalin’s purges could still carry rebellion locked up inside his skull as he awaited execution.”
Covid Fascism is similar; contrary attitudes are strictly forbidden. Criticize mask wearing even while wearing one and you’ll get a blast from some Karen.
Cooking for friends while enjoying store bought wine is an inexpensive way to enjoy fellowship and good will. And the service is always better.
Cooking isn’t rocket science and food vids on youtube have made cooking class and cookbooks totally obsolete.
And you don’t have to worry about being overheard expressing politically incorrect views (turn off all devices and lock them away).
i live in real wine country, and nobody, is that stooopid...
They’ll do fine, they’re just keeping out the plebian scum for their respectable establishment. God forbid a mechanic patronized them.
So a hundred bucks a couple before you even get in the door, for the privilege of buying dinner from them? No thanks, I don’t think so. I’ll go to Papaya King for a dog and a shake.
Yeah, they’d pretty much have to.
Done with this stuff. Stand up America. Who the hell wants to live like this?
For many, they just started.
It’s so elegant, so intelligent.
I never cared for alcohol.
Good for you. I mean that too.
Is that rapid test the “PCR test” about which that German lawyer is trying to initiate a class action?
No real drinkers in my family.
Dad used to drink a beer every so often.
That was decades ago.
LOL...FU...I’ll get a burger
In the meat packing district of NYC $50 barely buys a hamburger there are many a $50 burger in that area for lunch not dinner settings. Steaks are $100+ with 2 and 3 hundred dollar steaks not uncommon. They are targeting wealthy clients people who spend $300 on a bottle of wine and $100 25 year old scotchs. I spent a month in NYC least year before all this madness one of the best burgers of my life was at the Old Homestead Steakhouse it was $45 just for the burger, one side was $15 and my Manhattan’s were 25 each this was lunch time dinner goes up from there.
I know businesses are trying to walk the line here and find
the middle ground. But my position is that I’m really sorry - I’m not wearing a mask to eat in your establishment. If you’re going to get huffy about it I won’t be back.
I can cook my own steak.
