It’s test-to-table dining.
A New York City restaurant will soon require all patrons to take a rapid coronavirus test at the door before being allowed to eat inside two days a week.
In what may be a first for Big Apple eateries, City Winery in the Meatpacking District will launch its pilot testing program on Tuesday.
“Given the change of the seasons, finding the next level of safety and comfort level for people to dine indoors is critical for us today,” Michael Dorf, the founder and CEO, said in a press release.

If this is the case, let the free market come up with a even cheaper test and open the damn economy.

Nothing says fine dining like starting off your meal with a $50 nasal swab.

This almost sounds like the Babylon Bee.
Gee, I wonder what the four hundred and seventeen problems are with this “plan”.

I don’t think that the swab test is the rapid test.
But I don’t think they will be getting many customers showing up to submit to the test.
I know I wouldn’t
They may as well close their doors.

IF, and I stress IF, I was so inclined to eat out there, I’d flip the Ecuadorian tester $10 to avoid the test.
He’d gladly comply

This idea of requiring a test before dining is ridiculous but IF a venue requires a covid-19 test then the venue should pay for it. It’s the cost of doing business.

Get some friends .... have each one bring a dish & fine bottle of wine - rotate houses or if you have someone willing to ‘host’ on a regular basis, do that. This will be cheaper than $50/person before you even get to a table - the food will likely be better, too.
I do not go out to eat any more. Tired of paying prices (that would keep me in groceries for a week) for food that is nothing special if not marginal, not prepared in a healthy way, & paying a price for a glass of wine that would otherwise buy an entire bottle of wine that is decent. Service is usually pretty not-so-great either.
YMMV

What medical credentials do the restaurant management and staff hold?

If the results are negative, the guests can go in — though they’ll still have to follow standard regulations such as wearing a mask and social distancing. Why would they have to wear a mask and s.d.? They DON'T have the Rona. Idiots.
