Times opinion columnist Nicholas Kristof, who has won two Pulitzer Prizes and often appears on the liberal news network CNN, wrote a piece Wednesday headlined “When Trump Was Right and Many Democrats Wrong” shortly after New York City officials announced schools would be shutting down again.
Kristof says he’s been writing since May about the importance of keeping schools open, and “initially the debate wasn’t so politicized. But after Trump, trying to project normalcy, blustered in July about schools needing to open, Republicans backed him and too many Democrats instinctively lined up on the other side. Joe Biden echoed their extreme caution, as did many Democratic mayors and governors.”

The education of children is not important
The maintenance and care of the huge education/political complex government bureaucracy is absolutely important!
I remember when my mom said eat your dinner, there are kids starving in China. Now we should say - Johnny do your homework because there is a kid in China who will take your job.
Kristof is often on the opposite side of conservatism. I don’t regard his work as anyone to listen to.
It’s OK to admit Trump was right about something after you think he’s lost the election.
A stopped clock...
I don’t either. The point of view of my comment was that of a Democrat outraged that Kristof could say anything non-negative about Trump and threatening him for any future deviations from party orthodoxy. Sound like communists? Well.....
Oh, thanks for the reply. I hadn’t read your comment from that POV.
Trump should have known the TDS was so bad with the media and Democrats that he needed to use reverse psychology
1) he should have said close all the schools
2) require that you mask were masks everywhere
3) order that you can’t go to the park or beach
4) Order a nationwide shutdown
5) Allow people to visit Nursing homes in New York state

Bingo. The Dems figure they can afford to be nice now. I wish we could come up with enough proof of voter to wipe the smug grins off their faces.
I much prefer the direct Trump, but I suspect that this reverse psychology quite possibly would have accomplished his aims. Given the tyrannical impulses of the Democrats, however, they may have reacted with something even worse. Perhaps, “good, yous sent your children to school today, but they’ll be locked in their schools immediately and never come home again, and you have no appeal.” Or, “grocery stores are closed immediately and forevermore, but some state bureaucrat may deliver a starvation pittance of food to whom the Democrat party favors.”
You’re on to something there!!
