Likely she has information from sources that the office of president has to keep at arm’s length.

My point is she’s no piker and is very much on the side of the law.

I’m sure she’s on the up and up. But it’s entirely possible that she’s latched onto the fervor of Trump supporters to feather her own nest. She is raising money from donors separately from the Trump campaign. We are talking potentially millions of dollars, the cost (to her) of which are a few cryptic statements issued to random media personalities. Trump’s statement is meant to dissuade people from donating to her - if you want to support the Trump campaign’s legal efforts, the appropriate place to do so is:

If Trump feels like retaining Powell’s services, he will pay her to do so.
