The article is balderdash. Reminiscent of the “nuclear freeze” nonsense of the 80s.

Only the Deep State Chicoms and their Lackey, Joe Dementia, see this as a problem.

Only the Globalist, Hate America First crowd would think this is a bad thing.

For those patriots who believe this is a good thing, not to worry. The pussies pulling Bidens strings will be selling this technology or giving it away, shortly......so the world is more fair.

With the proliferation of nukes and long range missiles, you have to be a damn fool not to support missile defense.

Do you really want to be “defenseless” in an era where Pakistan, North Korea, Iran, India... who else tomorrow can potentially build something quickly which they can put over your head? How many nukes need to hit CONUS or do a high altitude EMP burst to seriously screw us up?

You can’t “miracle” a defense system like this over night. If you ignore this threat and something were to arise, you are in a world of shit because at that point it will take a long time to put something together (too complex of a system) that actually “reliably” works.

The Russians already have newer systems to counter our missile defense (lower altitude, hypersonic, decoys). They are not the concern these systems address.

“More probable the attack missile exploded sufficiently close to enable shrapnel/shock to impact and case the ICBM to fail.”

That’s what I think. A proximity fuse with a cone like shotgun of shrapnel.

If Joe Dementia is really elected, his son Humpher will be selling these secrets to the Chicoms/Russians and Islamics.

That recreate the so called “Balance”!

As a gi brat living on base during The Cuban Missile Crisis, with the school drills, the movies about Soviet Russia, the photos shown to us of what Cuba was doing, and then myself serving during The Cold War, I see this article spewing nonsense over an ABM test shot!

The author has no quarters for the clues he thinks he knows!!

Does the launching of a defensive missile require Biden be awakened to give his approval?

We are safer than ever before and this is bad. We should not be able to defend ourselves. Like 2 people with guns, if one of them gets trained it gives them an advantage which is bad. Because the trained one is going to kill the untrained one? My head hurts. Going back to bed.

The exoatmospheric interceptor uses a net (oversimplified) to impact with the incoming warhead. The old Sprint and Spartan were to be nuclear armed. The Sprint was to have a kiloton range neutron warhead, intercepting in the stratosphere. The area defense Spartan was to have a 5 megaton warhead designed to take out the warhead with soft xrays while outside the atmosphere. During testing however, some Sprints made hard contact with the incoming. That was with 1960’s computer technology.

The whole “mutually assured destruction” farce relies entirely on the concept that we can not just trust our enemies, but trust their motives.

We have to maintain the status quo and all of the expensive hangers on surrounding it but not advance our own capabilities so that neither side would dare to let all hell break loose because we’d both lose. All the while it’s necessary to believe that the commies are doing exactly the same thing for the same reason.

Yeah, that’s basically the premise. Now this incentivizes foreign agitators to find a way to counter this ability with hypersonic missiles etc. etc...

Massive? Likely not...

But I think the more clear potential threat is a rogue launch from the likes of NK or Iran.

China and the USSR would still fall under the MAD doctrine IMO.

What a pantload. The world has just become much more stable. Russia, China and Iran now know if they launch on us we will shoot down their missiles - and then retaliate. They won't dare.

Another idiot who thinks he knows something about "science" when he doesn't. Building the nuclear bombs was much easier than this. The US has been working on this problem for nearly 40 years to get to this point. Remember when Reagan's program was derided as "Star Wars" and "experts" and the mediots said it was "impossible"? Well, that's what is ahead of our enemies. Remember, the Sovs never succeeded in building a Saturn V even though it was really no secret how we did it.

This is a great development. But .... hypersonics are the new hotness so I think declarations about the death of MAD may be premature.
