16 million to lose all federal unemployment aid on December 26. Massive evictions start January 2. Riots soon thereafter.

If Hiden/Ho and the 2 demonrats steal the GA election, yeah another stimulus check (didn’t qualify for the 1st one, due to having a foreign spouse), but I’ll be permanently jobless and unemployable. If Trump and the Republicans manage to hold on and prevent a steal, Pelosi will block it.

Either way, America is screwed. I know many Freepers cheered on the loss of sports, events and entertainment, travel and tourism and related industries. But those are huge industries. Where will all those 10s of millions of displaced workers go for jobs in short-order?

That was what Millie Weaver’s exposé that got her tossed in jail was about. The deep state and defense contractors.

Michael Hastings had his Mercedes remotely hijacked and crashed at high speed when he was working on a similar story.

Regular unemployment (50% and filing with the state) isn’t good enough?

——————————————
Actually it was more like 24% in my case. And state UI is only 26 weeks in most cases (some as low as 12 weeks). Some states top out at only $230 a week, regardless of how much you previously made. Vast numbers of people exhausted their benefits back in September. Whole industrial sectors have been shut down and will remain mostly shut until maybe 2022.

What’s your suggestion?

I ran out all of my 401k savings under Lord Obama when I was unemployed and special classes of people were given 99 weeks of unemployment.

There are things people can do.

Uncomfortable things.

I don’t think so, then all those illegal who migrated to Canada to get away from Trump will be back on our doorstep. Let Canada stew in its own fecal matter for a bit, I mean look who the elected as their PM. But of course in all fairness, Trudeau’s brain is operating at at least 10%, Biden s lucky if he has .001% functioning.

You may be surprised. Family member works in sports and entertainment, every marketing and sales rep his organization terminated were employed as soon as the $600 stopped. They all have business degrees and work experience so they were hired rather quickly. Kind of a bone of contention with him, he was kept as essential, but his pay is less then the unemployment plus $600.

Of course, it also depends on the region or city a team is located in. In major metro areas with top level sports teams, staff were laid off, then terminated and not able to find work. Too much competition I suppose. In the smaller cities where teams have a smaller payroll for players, teams kept some staff on. I found that odd since you would think the opposite would have been the case. I am guessing that smaller teams in smaller venues need staff and cannot afford to out source or convert to AI.

I was a league employee. We were furloughed in stages starting March 15 when spring training ended abruptly. I was in round 2. End of March. We we told if the season did not fully start by the All-Star Break, the furloughs were permanent. Fully meant normal ballpark attendance and operations.
No need to keep a development staff (everyone under Principal Engineer/ Manager was canned - I was 3 levels below that as a senior, when all projects were cancelled or changed to maintenance only. The have since hired a Indian VP of Technology, and although we can reapply for our old positions, 95% of all interviewees have been Indian, according to two of the principals that I kept in contact with. Salaries were more than halved. $35k to $60k, rather than the $90k to $150k. Try living in Boulder, NYC or SF on that.

The smaller clubs were supported by the league and the parent clubs - for a time. The stadium employees - again, based on team - were mostly shafted, hard. Team employees, depending on the team. Some paid through the season, some were immediately let go. The farm teams got absolutely slaughtered.

“We are now a Banana Republic complete with brazenly corrupt elections and a rapidly developing caste system. “

The nation has experienced corrupt elections in the past and survived them. The 1824, 1876, 1960, and now 2020 arguably being the most corrupt. The evolution into a rigid caste system, combined with electronic manipulation of votes, is a death knell for the Republic. Graduation from an Ivy League institution is already almost a requirement to serve as President and Supreme Court Justice. Ivy League grads have an inside track to key positions in major corporations, federal courts, academia, the mainstream media, and many other leadership positions in society.

With the exception of some token affirmative action admissions, the Ivy League schools admit almost exclusively the children of alumni and children of the upper 1% leadership class.

The founders rejected the inherited titled aristocracy of Europe in favor of fluid social mobility based on merit. The elimination of hereditary class membership resulted in social mobility and innovation unmatched by any other nation on the planet.

We have now moved into a society where social and political mobility is controlled by families with strong ties to the elite universities or big government and the allied political parties which have gamed the system to prevent upstart third parties from threatening them. Likewise the domination of key industries by oligopolistic huge corporations allied with the big state, result in less competition, less innovation, and fewer opportunities for social and economic mobility.

The crushing of already struggling small business by government in this Covid pandemic will result in destruction of the only remaining engine of social and economic mobility in our society. The most recent stimulus bill gave billions in stimulus to big business and left small business in the dust.

I was not aware of the Indian hires, (thank you Senator Lee) but it makes sense. I have heard that teams will be moving to a lot of AI. They will keep one staff member to handle direct out reach, but sales and marketing will go AI with contracted customer service. Huge mistake if true. Sports Entertainment unlike other entertainment involves people investing a great deal of personal time and emotions in a team. Teams need that emotional connection, that sense of community, to be successful. The Green Bay Packers are a great example of that. Using AI is impersonal, but good for handling FAQs. But once people move past the AI to a human rep, the last thing I want to hear on the other end of the line is a Filipino or heaven forbid an Indian.

I just had this experience with AT&T, pushed buttons until the AI stopped and I got a Filipino. The Filipino can only do so much, when I politely told him he was not helping me, I was abruptly transferred to an American AT&T rep. She understood the problem and fixed it. It is like playing a game. Now imagine calling the local team about an issue with tickets or setting up an event at a game and having to spend 40 minutes dealing with the same BS? I would be pissed. So much for the sense of community and emotional connection, when the first person I talk to has an Indian or Filipino accent. Sports entertainment is on a downward cycle. People are walking away from sports and very quickly realize they do not miss it. I followed the Green Bay Packers since I was five years old. Because of all the woke BS, I stopped watching the NFL three years ago. I can tell you Rodgers is still their QB because he was in the news recently. I do not know who the coach is or any other players. I once could tell you who the QB was assigned to the Practice Squad. Frankly, I have reached a point I do not miss it at all.

Not really. I teach college (normally). Been with the same college for 6 years (Singapore, Dubai and now the USA), with a year in between working in sports.

They hired me as full-time faculty. But, since the CCP virus, we all were bumped down to part-time adjunct.

No work, no pay. Try living on 8 hours a week, even if the per-hour rate is decent. Teaching 8-9 hours per week is normal at the university level. Everything else, unpaid. Shit-tons of course prep, grading etc. All stuff that used to be paid when salaried.

Hopefully, the animation/animator faculty position in the UK remains open until work visas once again are issued.

Wow, at least the Filipino is understandable. I always get Indians. I need a land-line so I can slam down the head set. Absolutely hate that accent, having dealt with Dalit recruiters.

Even myself, who worked for the league last year couldn’t handle watching the World Series. Even baseball decided instead of rehiring us post-COVID that they would hire dot Indians at less than 1/2 our former salaries.

Eff this. Mike Lee is adding the Make India First (S386/HR1044) bill to both the Omnibus spending bill and to any coronavirus stimulus bills

Indians win, Americans get shafted.
